Tarrytown

  • Tarrytown view from street
    Mid-century gem revived.
  • Tarrytown before
    Dark, overgrown and dated before.
  • Removing columns to gain air and light.
  • Correcting grading and drainage.
  • Building trellises and raised beds.
  • Right after planting.
  • "Barometer bush" after a rain.
  • Yellow roses of Texas - tough and gorgeous.
  • Paths, beds and trellises create interest year-round.

This mid-century property had good bones beneath its faded trim.  We updated the landscape as part of a whole house renovation.  Now, roses, herbs and jasmine perfume the air.  A wall fountain adds the murmuring sound of water.  A custom Ipe wood screen welcomes guests to the courtyard.  Native grasses and stepping stones replace a tired lawn.  Lush and low water, this landscape gives every room a view.
